I just had a wreck today and need your opinion on what the state of my car is before the insurance company decides.

While going to lunch, a truck going the opposite direction decides to makes a turn into a bank that was 3 lanes over on my side of the road. 2 cars let him go through and without looking he hauled ass across my lane. Needless to say, I slam right into his passenger side. I didnt see him until it was too late. Immediately I thought I broke my arms and face when the airbag deployed. And apparently, I'm on the only person on this planet that didnt know how much harm airbags can cause because my arms were skinned and bleeding from it.

According to the officer he was in violation but neither of us received a citation. Im pretty certain that I will prevail. What I need to know before I get ahead of myself and start looking for a car, is from the pictures below and from your past experience Anandtech, what do you think they will do with my car? Please vote.

Update

I just got off the phone with the claims agent and she is sending someone here talk about my injuries and rental car. no word on the status of the car until they assess the damage, although they claim liability.

i just realize this morning that I busted the inside of my lips.

2nd Update

the claims agent just left my house a few minutes ago. I was offered 1K for my injuries, which I gladly accepted. I wasnt expecting it but everything helps. the only thing that I expected to happen, didnt. Still no rental car because of their office communications. hopefully they get it resolved by the end of the day. i feel useless without a vehicle.
i'll post again when they decide the fate of my car, so please keep on voting.

UPDATE

the insurance just called and said that the cost of repairing it will exceed over 75% of the value of the car. they will call me again to discuss the settlement.
 
Not likely. That actually looks very similar to the damage on my 00 Maxima, which cost only $4500 to repair. Course, our airbag didn't go off and if there is frame damage on your end I am not sure if they'll total it out or not.
 
take a full body pic. we need to see the whole car. because all the dmg wasnt done JUST to the front. if there is frame dmg you will see some bent and tweaked door seals. etc.

the car is at a collision center and I probably wont see it for awhile.

I also forgot to mention that I slammed so hard into the airbag that I bent the steering wheel sideways towards the windshield wiper controls. its about 1/2 in apart.

i bought this car brand new and is now paid of for 4 months. I hate to have to start up another car note.
 
if it were my car, i'd hope it was totalled. if they do decide to fix it, it's never going to be the same again. when a car takes a hit like that, it breaks spot welds and things in places that you'll never find. it will rattle and make noise like it never did before.

if i had to guess, i'd say they aren't going to try to fix that. it looks like it pushed the radiator back into the engine block, probably moved/bent the subframe like someone else said.
 
It pays to pay attention, even though it wasn't your fault. The car is worth close to $20k, I think you'll be lucky if it's totalled. Hopefully it's totalled.
 
Did both airbags go off?
It looks to me like it will be totaled. I don't know why people keep saying the frame is bent (unibody cars don't have frames) the rebar for the front bumper does'nt even look that bent, if it all. It looks like you hit him pretty high on your hood line. Unless your insurance company has no problems using recycled parts, that car will probably be totaled. A front clip for that car can actually be pretty cheap, so they might choose to fix it if they can find one from a salvage yard.

Both airbags deployed. I had a passenger in the car with me, his hat and glasses flew off somewhere in the car. He wasnt physically hurt but said he had the worst headache ever. It went away after 2 aleve but I told him he is going to be hurting tomorrow.
 
im gunna say totaled, ive seen much less dmg total a car.

theres good engine bay dmg, prolly lots of front clips damage, im not sure how much a whole front clip costs. the way you are ****** up looks like you prolly bent the frame pretty well.
