is my burner dead?

i was burning something and i forgot to add a file and i hit cancel really fast when it began spinning really fast (the beginning of the burning process). after about 30 seconds, the cd popped out and was spinning fast as it came out. now when i put any cd into the burner, it will not read it. i even restarted. is it dead?
 
sounds like its confused.... has it been turned off after? or have u left it on? If not, burners are cheap now!! Buy 2 of em as backups....lol
 
bah the burner can still open and close but it just doesn't read any cd i put in. i'm going to give tech support a call this morning. everything i've tried (restarting, uninstall driver and reinstalling driver) has failed 🙁
 
since you said cd I guess yours is a cd burner not a dvd burner correct ?Sounds like maybe the reader head got out of adj...Maybe try opening it up and slide the head all the way back on the rails(usually you can see a spot where it stops at)and try it
