C1 C1 04 CF

First time builder. Finally have time to put it together... Im testing with board, memory, and video card. Doesn't send signal to video.. Codes read as above, stopping with CF (bios read/write)

Any other possiblilities? Did I mishandle this board? Faulty bios? How does this occur?

What mobo?
What diagnostic kit?
What BIOS does it use?
What vga slot/pci-e etc?

Have you tried resetting CMOS with the power completely disconnected?
Have you tried posting elsewhere with more information about your hardware?
Did you want to post some more info here?

Have you tried resetting CMOS?
Are the case speakers connected [not to your sound card, but to the motherboard]?
If yes,
take out vid card, restart - any beeps?

Yes, speaker wire is connected. Just the speaker wire, power switch, reset switch, memory, and video card.

Power switch works, boot begins, fans turn, post codes show on motherboard.. just those four codes C1 C1 04 CF.. . No beeps. boot process ends on bios read/write failure. Takes about four seconds, ends on that CF code. Is there anything that might be causing this that Im unaware of... or is the board bad?

C1 is a memory test. Im not sure what 04 is. CF- test cmos r/w functionality. Thats where the boot stops - on the CF code. Presumably, if it passes the read/write function test, it continues to post and I would get a video signal to my monitor.. but that doesnt occur.

Fans still spin.. but codes quit flashing on motherboard, resting on CF. I've unplugged everything off the motherboard, ATX power, removed the memory, moved the jumper to reset the CMOS, removed the battery.. Ill just let it sit for a while and hope for a miracle.

See some improvement - though minor, in my problems. Reseated the memory again, using 3-4, instead of 1-2. The CF error has disappeared.

now it's C1 C1 04 - and back to C1 04, then stop... as if it begins to post, then stops, reboots and posts the same codes again, then comes to rest on 04.

Its posting now.. Over and over, I tried resetting things. One more time I tried with the memory, different dimm slots... Well, my CF error dropped away.. Some more fiddling with the memory and it posted and beeped... just like its supposed to when it cant find the keyboard, etc...

Im back on track. Ha!
