is my battery dead?

i'm runnin a MSI k7master.

everytime i boot up it askes me to reset my settings..

do i just pop the battery off the mobo and buy a new one and pop it back iN? it wont mess anything up other than resetting everything again like i do all the time now anyways.. right?

the mobo has been working well other than that, very stable.. i thank you guys again for helping me pick it out.

You might want to check and make sure you don't have a jumper or switch set to "Clear the CMOS" first. If not, then yes, pop out the battery and go get another to pop in. Actually you can probably read the numbers off the battery while it's still in the case. Any drugstore or place that carries a decent selection of batteries will have them. Whatever you do though, be careful you don't force anything and break it when removing the battery. Not that I have ever done that of course. No, not me. :eek:

nope, i know its working correctly cuz for a time it was okay, recently its been wacky. its actually my moms computer.. but i just realized it recently when doing some upgrades to it. moms not really aware of whats going on so it says hit f1 and she does it and it just uses defaults n boots up...
