Well i've got some very wierd symptoms with one of my chips

It seems to boot once and while and sometimes consistenly but when it does it says that it is posting @ different speeds every time.
and I don't mean cause i have the fsb changed etc.

i get posts of 1940 !!!, 1344, 1572, and every number in between you can think of.

there is a tiny chip in the left hand corner.

I haven't been able to get to windows cause i was screwin around with it tryin to get the right speed, and then it decided it didn't wanna boot, so I will see. I really don't want this chip to be dead as I wanted to play with it, seeing as i got a pretty damn good stepping..

well LMK guys..
and the board I was using was a kt7-raid, a duron 650 and 1.2 bird post and work fine in the board.

I have also tried the cpu with the bridges both unlocked and in their original state, nothing.

the only other thing I can think of is the large amount of arctic silver all over the cpu, well not all over, but quite a bit.

Please LMK

Thanks,
Abirinder..

Clean All then AS off the cpu, paying close attention to the components and traces that can be shorted. Make sure no AS on on anything but th cores top. Give it a try then. AS is conductive and most likely your CPU is toasted but you won't know until you ttry🙂

yea, I'm gonna get some contact cleaner as suggested @ a different forum and then update tommorow 🙂..

thanks for the suggestion...
