Is my Audigy2 flaky?

Every so often my new Audigy2 acts.... strange. I get a high-pitched tone and the system locks up for about 15 seconds (if not a total freeze or reboot.) This happens in some games, Winamp, and in music programs if I try to use the ASIO drivers.

System specs:

Windows 2000
Dell brand Intel 845 motherboard
768MB PC-133. (Yes, PC-133.)
1.5GHz P4, 400FSB
120GB WD Special Edition 8MB HDD
AGP Radeon 8500LE (Hercules)

PCI cards:
10/100 NIC
Happauge WinTV Go
Audigy2 OEM

Nothing seems to be conflicting... Do I just have a bad card? Conflicting problems? Should I return it? 🙁

Are you sure it's the audigy? It could be your motherboard - those Dell's don't like to play nice with a lot of stuff.

using the new drivers now 😱
Still freezes solid in Cubase VST when you select ASIO drivers. Maybe I should have stuck with the 2.5x more expensive M-Audio card.... but then I'd be sacrificing the Intel Retail Edge deal. 😛

new drivers
new PCI slot
even installed WinXP Pro to eliminate software problems...

Same thing. Beeeeeeeeeeeeep*reboot*

Either it just won't play nice with Dell (being sold soon anyways) or it's defective.

just a side note,
i've slowly gotten rid of all of the audigy 1 and 2 cards in my various systems. too many problems that were hard to pin to software or hardware. ended up going with the hercules fortissimo 3 sound cards. never had another problem. i wont buy another creative product. also, nvidia will be releasing a sound card soon. that should be good and cheap.
