Is my AGP 4x or 8x?

The computer I purchased boasts a 128 MB Ti4200 8x AGP card... and the driver in WinXP has "AGP8X" in the description as well. However, when I run SiSoft Sandra 2k2 or 3dMark2k1 they both say I'm running 4x AGP version 2.0.... thoughts?

Your motherboard has to support 8x too.. I'm guessing you've only got a 4x capable motherboard and that's what it's reporting

Hmm... why would the computer be advertised with 8x AGP card if it doesn't support it? Are these pieces of software possibly too outdated to recognize 8x?

Ummmm... that's like asking "Are there even any cars made that don't use diesel fuel?" ...

I must not be reading your question correctly; I refuse to believe anyone's that ignorant. 🙂

just look at the front cover of your motherboard manual, and report it's manufacturer and model number.

We'll take it from there

Thats what I was thinking too. I h ave 4x, and there is no need for 8X yet. Many games will run at same speeds from 2x to 4x. Also, it is very likely that the motherboard only supports 4x while the card supports 8x.
