Hey guys. I just recently did a major rebuild of my computer. Unfortunately it seems my 9800GTX is DOA, although I'm wondering if there is anything else I should try before I send it back.

I built my computer Friday night. At that time I was still waiting on my new PSU, so I decided to use my old one (OCZ 520W) that I know works fine. Unfortunately the system didn't POST with my 9800GTX. At first I thought my mobo was DOA, but then I tried my old video card (a 7800GT) and it worked fine. I figured that the 9800GTX just needed more power than the 520W could provide.

However, today I got my new PSU. It's 780W, but the computer will still not POST with my 9800GTX. As always, I've tried to get it to work with just the mobo, CPU, 1 stick of RAM, and video card connected -- still no luck. As before, everything works fine when I use my 7800GTX.

Additional things I've tired:

1) Tried both DVI ports
2) Made sure both PCI power connectors are in place
3) Reseated the video card in the PCI-e slot
4) Cleared CMOS

I'm really out of ideas. Any other suggestions before I initiate an RMA?

My relevant specs:

Mobo: DFI DK 935 T2RS
CPU: Intel Q6600
Memory: Muskin DDR2 800MHZ (8GB = 4x2GB)
PSU: OCZ 780W ModStream

Card should have lights showing whether its getting enough power or not

Or is that 9800GX2?

When I disconnect the two PCI-e connectors I see red lights on the card. However those lights are not on when the power connectors are in place, so I don't think it is a power issue.

With the power connectors in place, I don't get any beeps or anything. The computer doesn't POST and there is no hard drive activity.

did you check if there needs to be a molex connector to be connected to the motherboard? my motherboard has that extra molex on the mobo which the manual i recall saying it was for providing extra power for the graphics.
