Is my 7800gt running too hot?

i just got my system togeather... and i noticed some qwerky temps from my vid card.

i am using the 7800gt OC from EVGA (470mhz on the core... stock 7800gt has 400) so it might just be the way the card is....but....

using my computer right now.. the temp is 41C if i run farcry or something slightly older it will hit in the 50's but when i run something crazy like... nvidia's Luna tech demo... i see this thing get up to 71C! expecially when im really screwing with the effects and spinning the image ect... now it takes about a minute and a half for it to get that high but O.O thats pretty hot imo.....

is this too hot? or is this normal for this card? i dont get any errors...no crashing and it never goes any hotter than that but... still geesh thats hot.

Not sure wahts up with yours but i have the EVGA 7800GT CO. The fan is insanely noisy so i ripped the connector out and connected it to a zalman fanmate and turned it all the way down. I think my temps are around 45C idle, and can get up to 65C load. And that is with the fan on its lowest setting and with an ambient temp of ~74F.

Its probably fine. Try cleaning out your case, making sure all your case fans are doing their job. Additionally it also depends on your ambient temperature as well as the other components in your system. IMO it is fine.

Seems fine- my 7800GT CO with a Zalman VF700 at ~7V idles at 41C and peaks at 70-71C at a room temp of 26-27C. Most games only get the card up to 60-65C, but 15 minutes of RTHDRIBL pushes it past 70C.

The stock copper cooler did about as good a job, but was much louder. As gamingphreek stated, you are probably OK.

thanks...i was using a modified nvidia driver...i downloaded the official nvidia driver and reran my tests...everything runs smoother and the card runs colder 😵 now it doesnt hit 67 no matter what i do with it.

no more tweeksrus drivers for me LoL
