I have an Acer 27 inch 3D monitor. It's been working like a champ till now, when I moved out from my parents place and into a new apartment. Now it shuts off every 20-40 min or so and either immediately turns on again, or stays off for a good 5-10 min and eventually turns on again.
I thought there is something wrong with power in my new place, but all other devices work fine. No blackouts.... So it must be the monitor. Is this thing dying, and if so, is there any way to repair by myself or as the Russians like to say... "Time to flush the water?"
PS: Monitor is long out of warranty, and even if it isn't, I don't know how I would take advantage of the warranty since I am not the original owner and don't have his contact details.
Also, I was googling "monitor shuts off" and stumbled upon a website where someone was suggesting to a user that refresh rate has to do with such issues too... Funny, because I just switched from 60Hz refresh rate to 120Hz refresh rate when I moved to the new place. This monitor is DESIGNED to be run at 120Hz. It's just that I always ran it at 60Hz before because I wasn't aware it was not running at 120Hz by default!
Now when I am running at 60Hz again, lets see if this thing shuts off...
