Built my first computer using the anandtech mid level model as a guide. Components are
P4 2.8E Prescott CPU
Asus P4P800E deluxe MOBO
512 MB PC3200 Kingston memory (2x256)
Geforce 5600XT 256MB video card
Seagate Barracuda 120GB SATA hard drive
and cheap fifty dollar case with 420 watt PSU and three fans(1 side, 1 back and 1 top)
my CPU temperature seems to be about 47C with the fan runnin at 3300 RPM when I have a couple of internet explorer windows up.
when I turn on an old game like diablo 2 my CPU ramps up to 55C and stays there with the fan running at over 4000RPM. It is the OEM CPU with provided fan.
I've read some buyer testimonies about other CPU's such as the P4 3.0C and they all claim really low temps when running some test. Can anyone tell me if there are tests to measure my and what I should expect as a safe guideline? I know Intel claims 70C but that seems contrary to everyone else's practice.
thanks for the help
