Is moving to DDR worth it?

Is there a large enough performance difference between DDR boards and normal boards to justify buying new RAM, Mobo, and CPU?

Also;
Right now I am on Classic Slot A Athlon 650 and Asus K7V. I could get a socket A T-bird and mobo and be able to use the RAM I have in that setup, or spend more to get a DDR mobo, CPU, and RAM. What do you think?

Well, obviously you will gain performance moving to a slot A T-bird, but the DDR will get you a maximum of a 10% increase in performance. If you have to buy new ram and a new motherboard, I would say yes, go ahead with DDR because it isn't going away, and in time DDR boards will take better advantage of the technology. It may be that Bios updates allow for that as well, but that is less likely. The EP-8K7A, a great DDR board esp. for overclockers, is about $130, not much more than a good SDR board. It is your call, I am about to.

yeah, some settings by jumpers, but otherwise looks good!

If you are upgrading to a new board definitely go DDR. There are boost up to 42% in some cases with the new Palomino cpu. With the new Palomino core DDR will be much more efficient.

Is DDR going to survive in its current form? I noticed it hasn't really taken off, and some boards are being discontinued. Are SDR boards going to be phased out anytime soon? (Wondering because I just bought a stick of Crucial PC2100 DDRAM yesterday).
