Is movie watching a worthwhile feature on the ipod nano 5G?

It isn't clear to me whether I should keep the 5G that I just got for my daughter. At first, I thought that the 5G was great because it can play movies as well as songs. But I am having second thoughts about holding out for a good deal on an ipod touch.

The main issue is whether it is going to be uncomfortable or not worthwhile for my daughter to watch movies on a small screen.

Does anyone have first hand experience with this issue?

This thread seems to suggest that viewing is okay:

But, I just wonder if there are any issues for young kids.

i think if she 2-4 it is fine - but around 3 i got my kid a used $100 iphone 2G and loaded it up with apps, wifi only, jailbroken to disable the phone (no 911 please!) and hide the app store settings. actually she is 4 now and we explained which buttons are for adults and why and she doesn't need that any when using our iphone4 to take pics or movies or facetime/airvideo.

Be sure to get an indestructible heavy plastic casing. i got three cheap since nobody wants 2G stuff (its not the same size as a 3G/3GS) and i'm on the last one, each gave up they life when dropped (twice each) but the iphone 2G is still flawless.

Great for restaurants - the apps are amazing for teaching more so than games - the games are creative too like dress up etc. super why. good stuff.

I think while movies are great when they have tantrums and you are not in a position to help them (driving by yourself) safely - you should try to push them towards interactive learning as fast as possible - that is purely my opinion. others i know think kids do not need technology at 2+ but it would be hypocritical since i use it all the time myself to deny such fun.

i think i paid $130 for iphone 3G 16GB recently. why? backup to iphone 2G which was a backup in case one of our (two) wife and me's iphone was busted we could pinch hit with the kids rather than be down.

the investment works well. she's also been using our ipad 3G since 3 years old and in the appropriate setting can manage to not break it and enjoy it.
