Is Monday (MLK Jr Day) A National Holiday?

I know i don't have work, and i know the postal service doesn't work, but is it considered a national holiday? I'm leaning towards yes, but a friend of mine just said she has to work & does not get holiday pay?!?!?!

I have no school but I will be going to my government job and my job in the private sector

I have definitley noticed that the less black people there are around, the less likley an organization is to take off for the day

 

I have no school (college), but I'll be at work (that same college)

But I never got this holiday off when I did my undergrad in Virginia, either, so whatever.
