Hi all

I wonder if anyone try to run the mobile Athlon 64 4000+ on desktop motherboard. I am currenty running Athlon 64 3200+(newcastle core) on MSI K8T NEO-FIR. I want to do a quick upgrade on the CPU. The mobile CPU is the fastest socket-754 CPU, which I think it's a good fit to my current rig.

I also wonder what heatsink would be good for the mobile CPU. I currently use the Thermaltake Sonic Tower with a large case fans blowing air out.

Thanks
Dan

my rig:
Athlon 64 3200+(newcastle core)
MSI K8T NEO-FIR
Corsair Ballistix DDR4000 1gb
Nividia 5700 D

What are the exact specs for that cpu? Is it on the .09 or .13 process? That mobo is the first generation Via chipset for K8? Also, a mobile cpu will not have the heatspreader, so you will need a cooler that will compensate for that. There are some tricks I think to make a stock hsf take that extra space into consideration. Do a search on that though.

Need the cpu info.
