Is MIPS dying?

Outside of routers and switches, I don't think I've seen a MIPS CPU in a long time.
Do you guys think they will all eventually be replaced with ARM CPUs?

It was just recently that Android picked up support for MIPS procs.. So.. I guess give it some time.. I'm interested in how they perform clock for clock against ARM procs..

No, it is not dying, you are just not seeing it directly in consumer facing products.

You can purchase 100 MIPS processors for $0.67 a piece. This means you will find these things in refrigerators, microwaves, cars, and pretty much any place that could use a little bit of logic.

ARM processors are slightly more expensive.

Could you point me towards one of these $0.67 microprocessors? :D
The cheapest ones I've seen on Digi-Key are around $3.

Those are probably similar but the price tends to go up as your volume decreases.

MIPS has been on a decline for a while. I don't think they'll end up dead any time soon, but they're no longer the major firm they once were.
