Is Midnight Club 2 a DX9 only game?

I installed this game, but the textures are all screwed up. I thought by requires DX9 it meant the software installed. Does it require a DX9 video card also? I have a Radeon VIVO 64.

I'm not 100% sure. But its extremely unlikely. Someone correct me otherwise.

Well, DX9 software might be required... but DX9 hardware isn't. Unless they made the demo able to use DX8 to get more people's attention.

Agreed. Such as other titles like Flight Sim, which use the DX9 API but not the pixel shaders. That is what I was referencing to before. :p

I heard FS2004 does use some DX9 features... although I haven't seen any difference since I got my new FX5900...

I haven't heard too much about that. Thanks for giving me the heads up, we will look into that.

Is it still possible my video card is too old?? I find it hard to believe the game is supposed to look like it does. The demo looks horrid too.

System Requirements for Midnight Club II

Click on the "Click to see more information" link above the picture.
Midnight Club II uses and requires Microsoft DirectX 9.0.
hmmm on the gfx-cards requirements they state:
32 MB video card with DirectX 9.0 compatible drivers
("GeForce2"/"Radeon 8500" or better)
so i guess pwddesign you aren't lucky... as i know the radeon vivo 64 uses the radeon 256 which isn't the same as the radeon 8500 gfx-chip... :(
