No, he is saying that they have been under an embargo for 50 years with all of the worlds most powerful economies.

The OP implied that Cuba is bankrupt because of universal healthcare, which is pretty laughable.
Let's see, that would be America, Israel, and . . . Um . . . Who else now?

Even US companies import into Cuba, the only difference being that they have to use middle men and have to get cash up front. Cuba is bankrupt because communism as an economic system is a short bus to hell.

Pretty much. It happened to USSR as well. There was no way to pay for that arms race when there was no economy.
