Is memory prices reduction temporary or not?

I bought 2 months ago 64MB PC133 RAM and I saw in a store that with the same money I can buy now 128 MB! Is it temporary (in which case I'll run and buy 128MB more) or should I just wait? I am not dying for extra memory right now, but I am sure I will in a few months.
So...can anyone help?😕

One reason why the sdram prices went up a while back was because the people which made them thought that rdram would be the next wave so they started putting a lot of their resources towards rdram which made the sdram a little more expensive. That is not the sole reason but one of them. Who knows, maybe ddr ram will do the same thing. I think the prices should stay down though since sdram seems to be a dying thing.

Ram prices are historically cyclical. They tend to go up and down, just like other commodities. They used to trend down consistently (I remember when fast page mode D-ram was $40 per meg!) And I managed to purchase a generic PC-100 128 mb Dimm for $67.95 in June of 1999. At the time, I thought it could not go lower, but here it is! It could just as easily go back up again if supply dwindles and demand stays strong. I say if you like the price, grab some! I just ordered a Kingston ValueRam 128 MB Dimm PC-100 cas-2 from Onvia.com for $69.95 with free shipping and a $20 mail in rebate. Maybe not the hottest deal around, but it works for me.

It probably all has to do with what's selling. With SDRAM prices going lower, DDR ram is still coming out and most likely it be super expensive, it all depends who's buying it. If DDR ram isn't a big hit, Sdram will probably jump. I remember when I bought a 32mb Edo Simm for $32 when EDOram started dying, and a month later it was more like $60-70. Who knows RAM is too confusing. My theory, if you want it and its cheap, buy it, who cares.

Well DDR ram is coming out pretty cheap and most people building new systems will be moving from SDRam to DDR in a couple of months. I don't see SDRam going up.

According to Anandtech PC2100 DDR 128mb is selling for $111 which is very sweet.

Well, I did notice that at TCWO, the price of 128 PC100 went up from 69 to 72 this afternoon- maybe the tide is turning?
