I was looking for a good xbox live game, and the folks over at gamespot gave it game of the year, so is it any good?

EDIT: So I bought the game, I think its pretty sweet.

I'd have to guess that if it wins game of the year awards ANYWHERE, then, yes, it's probably decent.

Then suck it up and kill them! :D

Yes, great game...even the single player is fun!

I have yet to hear anybody complain about folks stealing kills.

I've had them "stolen"and I've accidently "stolen" kills.
However, usually a quick "sorry man" is sufficient.

But honestly, I spend most of my time playing Team Destruction, and normally, if I finish someone off, my teammate says "Thanks man! Needed the help" as they move in for the powerups.

IMHO, anyone who's spending their time worrying about stolen kills is prolly gonna end up getting their own team's collective ass kicked.

Team Destruction almost demands that teammates share powerups, offer fire and blocking support, designate a spotter to call out targets for teaming efforts to quickly finish off opponents, and other teamwork to assure a team victory.

That being said...I think the WORST battlefield etiquette is when a teammate in a small, fast mech swoops in and bogarts all the powerups, even when they are just barely down on health, or just slightly down from max weapon powerups. In Team Destro, that pisses me off to no end, since it's wasteful resource management that could be better the entire team.

Seems like many folks haven't yet figured out that more powerful teammates means more effective support and better chances for a win.

I wouldn't be surprised if there isn't a LOT of kill stealing in non-team games tho!

BTW: I think MechAssault is AWESOME!

Not only is the SP campaign very well done, the MP is fantastic!

Mech Assault is a well made game, but it lacks depth. For $50, I feel as if there should have been many more mechs, stages, and game types. The single player campaign is particularly feeble, as you can beat the game easily in a few hours. If you don't have Live, I would definitely avoid this title.

Give it time :) Don't forget Live! updates starting in January. MA with Live! is the difference though between a good and great title.

I'm probably in the minority, but I think the single player game is better than multiplayer. MP is just very shallow deathmatch with relatively slow lumbering characters. It's cool for a while, but it wore thin quite quickly.

But I do really like the single player missions.

If you are looking for a great Live game, give Ghost Recon some consideration. It's my current favorite game.

I, for one, bought the game, but did not like it at all after I got to playing it. Like one before said, it has no depth. The single player, IMO, has a weak story, and there's not much beyond a couple of different mechs with a couple of different weapons. Ya, ya, I know, there's like 15 or something different mechs, but all in all, they are based on 2 or 3 different models.

The multiplayer is sooooooo boring. I've played a few games, and never heard any cries of stealing kills, but it's too plain for me. You aim, fire, and strafe side to side. That's it. You repeat that the whole game. There is no kind of strategy to the whole thing, unless you count strafing around buildings to be strategy, but then the building will only topple after a couple of shots.

If Microsoft can provide some new game modes via Content Download with XBL, the game will be much much better to me. Until then, it collects dust in my game collection.

All my opinion.

people also camp the spawn points, it's annoying. Otherwise, it's a great game.

Voila!

Awesome. I had read somewhere that they listed what downloadable contect was going to be released, but didn't actually read this list till now. Maybe I'll play it a lot more now after CTF comes out!

Ok so I decided to go buy it, and I agree its pretty sweet, I need to beat the game so that I can get ragnarok though. Oh and so that I can get some skill in the game.
