Yeh, and how young a teen. 13 is way too young. 17 or 18, maybe not. It's really not that bad - a little bit of bad language and scantily clad women....nothing that you can't find on television.

well sorta.. i told mum that i got a free subscription to maxim. she said "well if it's inappropriate you're not gonna be looking at it". i told her that it's basically like SI swim suit issues every month. fair analogy, right?

Parents don't realize how bad schools are. If your kid is in public school, by the time he's a sophomore in high school, he's going to have been exposed to every single swear word and every single sex term available to man kind. I hear the F word about 75 times a day just walking down the hallway inbetween classes (granted, 10 of those probably come from my mouth 🙂) and the hallways sometimes sound like a live porno. I live in a wealthy area, with 99% of our school consisting of whites, asians, indians, or europeans, so I'd imagine a so called "ghetto" school would be even worse. Maxim, morally I guess, is wrong, but if you think a chid is going to learn "inappropriate stuff" from Maxim or a magazine like it, then you're just plain ignorant to what our society has already become.

What the hell are you talking about? It has few pictures of scantily clad women... a few with the articles, but who really cares? Try reading the articles.
 
I got Maxim for free through the Hot Deals board (or was it Stuff? I forget), at any rate, it's not worth the paper it's printed on. As soon as I got it I tossed it in the trash.

Maxim is pretty tame compared to the stuff you encounter on the net. It's sort of a "poor-man's" Playboy.

For a 16 yr old it should be fine. I read it (and I am a girl, and even got a subscription for me ex) for theletters to the editor, jokes, and all the cool new toys (forget name of section) in the back. Most of the articles in there must be taken with a grain of salt, but they have kick a$$ very expensive new toys in there all the time. Oh, and they can teach you to get out of prision, or kidnap your boss!
