Is marijuana a neurotoxin?

Whether or not marijuana is detrimental largely depends on who you ask and their willingness to tell the truth. THC (the component that gets you stoned) apparently is classified as a neurotoxin. However, used in moderation, I would say it's a lot less harmful than alcohol (also a neurotoxin).

if you smoke 1500 pounds of weed in 15 minutes, you MIGHT die. ahhaha

Do we have a blockbuster-hit title on our hands?

The film was in the works, but apparently the cast and crew suddenly and inexplicably lost all interest

Mari Jane binds to the Canabinoid receptors in our brain and temporarily stimulate them. They also are known to block the GABA inhibitory neurons. This allows the dopamine receptors to be a little less regulated in the synaptic clefs of the pleasure pathways. It also has some effect on the reuptake mechanism, in other words it acts similarly to an SSRI.

Nuerotoxins are usually referred to as an exogenous chemical that permanently binds to a receptor either blocking it or stimulating it.

So no.

Edit: Had something a little backwards.

Its neuroawesome

haha, awesome.

THC evolved as a neurotoxic insecticide. So in the sense that it fries the neural net of much lower organisms, yeah, it's a neurotoxin.

It has been shown to slow down and muck with neural development in adolescent rats.
