Is making more food for the world helping it becomes more overpopulated?

The more food there is to feed people, the more they are going to breed. Then the population will expand, which causes the people to become poorer. Then more food is needed so we really haven't solved anything by making more food in the first place. Instead, we made everyone poorer.

Not necessarily true. If my parents or me for that fact were giving more food, it does not mean more babies.

 
...the problem is we have enough food, it just isn't distributed properly...and the u.s. really only gives huge amounts of food when it economically suits them, i forget what it's called, we learned it in econ...dumping i think?
 
the problem is in 3rd world countries where parents have large families and its the norm, its much easier to support 2 children than 4-5.

If my parents or me for that fact were giving more food, it does not mean more babies.

however if your parents gave you no food, you would have no babies
 
china already has a tuff population control policy, 1 child per couple, jail the rest....

India + China make half of the world's population. one ouf of every two people is chinese or indian.

A population increase would only happen in underdeveloped countries where a lot of people die from starvation. It would have absolutely no effect on Middle to Upper class Americans. So if you want the people in 3rd world countries to keep dying then don't promote increased food production. Blame your government!

And how the hell would an expanding population make everyone poorer?
 
the U.S. is importing McDonalds restaurants and making people die early with clogged arteries. so, it balances out 😛

Food does not cause pregnency, there are many starving countries that have a high birthrate but the babies die really young.

the trick is to get nations economically developed. there is a negative population growth in most developed countries. people with money tend to breed less than people w/o money.

Well, the world has a finite set of natural resources, let say land.

Ok, so take that land and divide it by, let say, 6 billion people.

Then, take that land and divide it by 12 billion people.

Which set of people will have more land? That's right, the 6 billion set.
Therefore, if there is 12 billion people in the world as opposed to 6 billion, the 12 billion would be poorer by a factor of two in this very simplified example.

Ofcourse in real life there's many other factors such as distrubution of wealth, but the same principles still applies.

then maybe a bomb should be dropped on the vatican for the religious oppression of poor people all over the world. forbidding poor people from using contraception because of "religious belief" causing unwanted children and increased poverty.
