Is logitech jipping me?

Well today my z560 sub completely stopped I called them up and they said they no longer make this set of speakers but they will ship me a set of 5300s to replace the 560's but the 5300's seem to have considerbly less power the sub is 88 watts weaker than the 560's does anybody know if this is fair?

Thanks,

Scott

I really believe the z5300s have better sound reproduction than the z560s...although they may not be quite as loud. Just the same, the sub on the z5300s puts out a LOT of power even though on paper it seems to be a lot less powerful (watts alone do not necessarily define how loud it will be).

I think you're good to go personally...especially if these are used solely for your computer in a room smaller than a gymnasium.

Well I just read that the sub in the z560's is rated at 100 watts rms but it has 180 watts rms available to it from the amp and that is why they blow all the time. I wonder if the sub is the same in the 5300 but they just turned down the total power. Has anybody been able to compare these two sets? I guess I don't have much of a choice either way I'm going to have to take the replacements.

well if you have warranty, tell them you want the equivalent subwoofer or a better one. be persistant.

Wow, not used to electronics having more than a 90 day warranty.

I still think that as long as the sales price is comparable, that's all they are obliged to provide you with. Generally the warranty language says that the company will "repair or replace, at the company's option" and that if the product is no longer made, "an equivalent product of equal or greater value [meaning price] may be substituted".

I had a set of Z540s go on me.. and they sent me a set of Z640s within a week, no questions asked. Logitech will always try to find a way to make it right... don't look a gift horse in the mouth!

same with klipsch.

my friend's 2.1s died and they sent him 5.1s :Q thats what i call customer satisfaction.

They're not blowing you off and making you buy a brand new speaker set. I'd say that's somewhat fair. However, Klipsch takes much better care of their customers.

/me remembers getting a completely new set of 5.1 Ultras when my basic 5.1 sub (amp inside) died.

😀

Thanks for the edification...... I don't know if they would be able to give me a set of 680s since those are still pretty expensive. Should I try to get a set of 680s or be happy with what I'm getting?

yup persistence is important. dont let big companies push you around.

Haha I will try that but I don't want to do it to much it could get expensive they don't have a 1-800 number for customer support. I think the reason they offered the 5300's were that I said I couldn't find my bill of sale so he said that from the serial on the sub the warrenty ran out in January but since he was a nice guy that he would assume I purchased them within two years and replace them for free. Since then i contacted the company I bought them from and they still had a copy of my original invoice on hand and emailed me a copy of it. So what do you guys think would be my best plan of action for getting the 680's.
Thanks,
Scott

Whos pushing him around?
He had a warranty problem, they promptly offered an equivilent replacement. Being a dick and whining for more is just wrong. Its not like their offering you a speaker pulled outta a cell phone or something.

Funny, you can still buy 560's from their website; dunno why they wouldn't replace it for you. Maybe they're just blowing out the rest of their stock?

/hugs 680's

Huh you are right they do still have them listed now this could be interesting. If i call up now with the invoice they could admit to still having the z560s and send me a pair of those. Now I don't know what to do if the 5300s are as good as some people say they just might be better to have instead of the 560s.

check out dansdata.com review of the z560's, the wattage listed is pretty bogus, esp since the drivers are rated far lower. marketing numbers games.😛

No go on the 680's I went to best buy today and checked out the 5300's and was very impressed though I think I'll take them Now all i have to do is figure out how to mut the old speakers in my 86 monte carlo ss j/k. The sub just started working again today but i'm not going to risk it I figure this way if i can somehow find another controll pod i will have one set of good speakers and one set of ok speakers for my garage.

Really I didn't mean to affend anyone hell i'm native american myself. A mod can delete this at any time now since the situation had been resolved. What is the racial slur?
