That integrated video card does not help, but you can look at peoples ping in the game and if they are high it is a sign of lag from internet.

Also don't waste your money on SLI unless you absolutle want the best. It would be much smarter to just get a single 6800GT.

The 5 second freeze sounds like lag.
Integrated graphics sounds like a headache.

It could be that the other persons server sucks. When I play Halo occasionaly, the person who started the server sometimes has a terrible server. It makes everything slow, laggy, and sometimes almost unplayable. You dont even know whats going on sometimes!!

Personally, I'd hard-wire my computer to the router, even though 802.11b *probably* has enough bandwidth for a DSL connection. That way, I can be sure I don't drop out due to wireless interference or plain old weirdness.

The integrated graphics is going to cause you to lag in smoke. Even when I was using a ATI Radeon X300 SE (not much better than integrated) everytime there was smoke, my fps will drop to around 15 - 20fps. So the freezing will probably be caused by that. I would suggest you turning down the quality of the smoke in the advanced options in CS. You can change it to the ugliest looking thing possible, but it won't lag your graphics as much. Try that first and see what happens.

Oh yeah, i forgot to add. You should turn off v-sync when playing CS to increase your fps. Also, if it is a fresh install of CS then you should type in these commands. CS is handicapped unless you change some settings

Go into console (~) and enter these commands in:
fps_max 100
rate 25000
cl_rate 101
cl_updaterate 60
cl_cmdrate 40

Try that and see what happens.

LMK if it works

"lag" = latency, time for data to make it's trip to/from the server. Low fps is sometimes called lag incorrectly, it's really just choppy gameplay.

you should be able to update your integrated graphics to at least 64MB, even possibly 128MB.

Do this in the BIOS and see if this works. might save you some money

It's the integrated graphics. Internet lag would cause other players' positions to be delayed and such. 3d rendering has nothing to do with your connection.
