Would booting knoppix live CD to access online bank accounts be safest way to avoid some trojan or spyware from hacking your PC? I am running hardware firewall, software firewall, Antivirus, and MS spyware detector already, but you can never be too sure I guess.

Yeah that and having a 256bit encrypted PIN/password which requires entering 6 separate passwords and a fingerprint id.

Just make sure the pr0n sites you visit are legit and you won't have to worry about trojans or spyware....

I know I've been paranoid, but some non-computer literate people are really afraid to do online banking because they don't know if their sister/brother/parents accessed some hacker website. I figured running knoppix would be the safest bet.

Yeah, because your bank's website ALWAYS gives you trojans. I know I get viruses from washington mutual all the time, that's why I keep using them.

Edit: I get it now, you're thinknig that maybe you've got a keylogger installed that's going to steal your bank pasword or something, you're not worried about getting a trojan from your bank's website.

Read my other post. A lot of these trojans/spyware/keyloggers can get installed when someone accidentally access a website. I don't do that. But a lot of people I know run IE and Windows is not up to date. Who knows what the brother/sister/mom clicked during the day?
I think its a valid concern, and booting knoppix seems a good idea for those unsure about the "cleanliness" of their system.

it would be a lot easier to download vmare player and the browser appliance, then to reboot from a cd when you want to check you bank account.
