Is Kingston value RAM a good brand of RAM to buy for running at stock speed?

Any BRAND NAME ram will do the job.. only enthusiats or overclockers need the high end RAM with the tightest timings.

Proven brands i've worked with

Crucial
Corsair
Mushkin

I have 1GB of Kingston Value RAM DDR 400 in my new Athlon 64 rig and I have not run into any problems whatsoever even with some mild overclocking.

As Dr. Cool said, any brand name should be fine

I am running two sticks of Corsair VALUE 512mb with no problems

Absolutely. They also have a lifetime warranty to boot. I haven't tested the warranty yet, but that's a good thing :)

I've never had any problems with Kingston. I wouldn't use value ram if you think you might do some overclocking in the future though. If you think you might ever get the itch, go ahead and get some higher end ram now.

For stock speeds, Kingston value ram should work great.

Another "good" vote. I've used Kingston and Crucial in all of the systems I've built, and never had a problem. In fact, I just ordered a 512MB PC3200 stick this morning. Mushkin is supposed to be good too, but the one stick I've gotten from them so far - bought it last week - was a dud :( Died after 4 days, and is in transit now for a replacement. They're still a good company though, considering how many good things I've read about them; as long as the replacement works, I will buy from them again.

Sorry to be a little off topic but I've heard that value ram is a bad overclocker. What exactly is considered bad. I've got my Corsair Value Select PC3200 running at 229 mhz right now is this considered a bad or good overlcock.

Yes they are. I have 1Gb of them and I'm running at stock speeds but with 2.5-3-3-7 timings. Not bad for value ram eh?

I recently bought 2x512mb Cosair VS PC3200 dimms, and had problems with errors on both dimms in a MSI K8N Neo. Returned them for Kingston and its been working fine. I'm not necessarily saying Cosair is bad, because I still have 1Gb in use from a previous purchase. I suggest going to your motherboard manufacturer's website and look at the memory compatibility chart. If there are no issues with any of the brands your mentioned, then it probably doesnt matter.

yes, bad overclockers indeed.... 2 of my 3 512mb sticks of Kingston VR PC2700 will only run at 200mhz 3-3-3;)

I have never had a problem with any Kingston ram.
