Is KDE 3.3 sufficiently faster than KDE 3.1?

I used to have a system with KDE3.1 on it. I think I finally got frustrated because it felt so damn slow. The GUI just wasn't responsive - I'd click on something and the wait between the click and the application launch finally bothered me so much to go back to WinXP.

Is KDE 3.3 any snappier, or omre responsive, than 3.1?

3.3 is definitely faster, though I must say startup times have been the largest change IMO.
What kind of box do you have? KDE has been good to me even on the lowly P-iii 866 I was using until fairly recently.

THe machine on question was a P3 1 GHz. XP felt substantially more snappy when I compared the two. It did only have 256 MB though.

3.3 should work fine on that, though of course eyecandy will need to be turned down.
Using Debian here by the way, I guess different distros setup different defaults that could affect performance...

How about between 3.22 and 3.3?

The reason I ask is that I've got a FC2 box that WILL NOT upgrade to FC3 (complains about partitions being reported correctly). I hope in the future to wipe the box clean and do an install of either FC3 (or FC4 if it's out), but am wondering what difference I'm going to see with 3.3 over 3.22.

Thanks,

Joe
