Is jumping the MB necessary?

I read somewhere that before you boot a motherboard for the first time, you should jump it, which resets everyone on it. However, I don't want to jump mine because I might lose the latest bios that monarchcomputer is installing for me. What might happen if I don't jump though?

Clearing the CMOS only reverts the existing BIOS to its default settings, it does not change it to an older BIOS. But you don't really need to clear the CMOS either. Fire it up. And if you are not protected by a hardware firewall, or even if you are, you might want to make sure you've got your Windows security gameplan in place: link for you.

Ok, but as long as it's safe to jump without reverting back to older bios, I'll do it. I was just makin sure.
