for some reason my tmobile xperia z runs nearly flawless on 4.1.2 with good battery life, very easy to root and I though I like kit kat roms none of them have working tmobile wifi calling which I find very useful. So I'm stuck with a tmobile rom.

4.1 and later support pretty much all functionality of Google services. Even ICS runs almost everything.

Something is only obsolete when it doesn't do what you want. My primary computing device at work was launched in 1990, and discontinued in 2003. It still does what I want, and I doubt the program I use in it has been bettered by any portable device since.
