So many parallels to the experiments. they reached the tippingpoint and are now sliding rapidly into the behavioral sink.
Think about it you have the Hikikomori the equivalent of the "Beautiful ones"

The high suicide rates amongst the young.
The lack of interest in sex or normal relationships amongst the young.
the declining population and other social issues(ie alcohol etc..).
Japan is an interesting country since they have isolated themselves socially and are pretty much a monoculture. Japan has high population density and small living quarters in addition to its population undergoing overstimulation in dense cities.
Like Calhouns Universe 25, they do not have the same issues in other countries that they have to deal with (ie hunger,wars,cultural clashes, high crime etc..) ie close to the Utopia experiments.
It will be interesting to see if this trend reverses itself when the population is cut by half or more, or if it is an irreversible trend.
