Is it wrong to want companionship after a break up?

hi guys,

if you read my previous post on AT here about my break-up then you know about my current situation. Lately I've been feeling really really lonely. I do hang around friends more often, but sometimes the feeling just isn't the same. I miss having someone special in my life. Someone who I can be with in a large room of strangers, but still feel like I'm at home with just a squeeze from her hand.

I know I probably shouldn't get into a new relationship yet, but I'm thinking maybe casual dating would be okay? I'm not sure... but lately I've been thinking about some girls I know in ways that are more than just friends. Should I approach one of them and ask them out on a date, or is this a totally bad idea.

Just don't be using a person. Don't pretend it's more than it is with a girl, don't go out with them just because you're lonely.

I don't think it is bad as long as you are upfront with the girl you are interested in and let her know that you just got out of a relationship and will probably not be looking for anything serious or even committed.

It's natural to feel a lonely after a breakup. HotChic is right, however. Don't use a girl just to get rid of that feeling. It wouldn't be fair to her. If you feel you're emotionally ready to date again, then go for it.

I would personally say no, but that is because I just had a breakup as well. Me and my Ex were engaged and together for 3 years, so I know that I am not ready to be with anyone for a long time...but do what you feel is right....just be honest with yourself...

What you're experiencing are withdrawal symptoms due to the low amounts of serotonine in your brain. They'll disappear without any interference.
