Is it wrong to kill pigeons for fun?

Damn sky rats. They are always sitting on my roof, crapping all over my property and nesting in the eves of neighboring homes.

I had a neighbor who used to shoot them with a pellet gun but I suspect that it is illegal. Still, I've been toying with the idea myself since he's moved away.

I did kill one once that was flopping around the neighborhood. It was wounded (possibly from my neighbor-I don't really know) and it was slowly starving to death. It ended up in my entry area too weak to evade me so I gave it a few whacks with a shovel and threw it in the trash where all pigeons belong.

put some fake snakes around and they will stay away, you have to move the snakes every few weeks or so though

Meh, killing sky rats isn't cruel. It's a public service. Those filthy creatures are all over the place. Not like they're an endangered species or anything.

Actually one time I shot a sparrow in the eye with an airsoft gun in Japan. Went right through it's head and it just dropped from the tree like a rock. Felt pretty bad afterwards.

Is there any truth to the rumor that if you give pigeons or sea gulls alka seltzer, it will explode in their stomachs and they will fall out of the sky dead?

Well, I didn't actually enjoy it per say. It was more like a chore. Something that needed to be done.

Morally, It didn't bother me in the least.

It's wrong to kill them for fun, but it's perfectly ok to kill them for being pests and ruining your property (IMHO).

I don't know. Alka Seltzer is expensive though. Seems like a rather ineffecient way to kill pigeons. Pellets are much cheaper.
