Is it wrong to drive while high?

I got a buddy, major pothead, much more then me, who is driving from UCSB tomorrow to stay the weekend. Anyways, I know he is going to have two huge joints rolled so when he gets stuck in traffic he can blaze. It's about a 6 hour drive.

What do you all think?
Personally, if he wasn't around anyone else, and could only hurt himself, I wouldn't have so much of a problem. I know that makes me sound like a bad friend, but if he only hurts himself with his decisions then I count him lucky. Ive been high enough to know that my ability to drive is greatly reduced while intoxicated. Anyone disagree?

EDIT: fixed poll

It's not okay to drive high because your reaction speed is affected, but driving high is nowhere near as bad as driving drunk in terms of impaired ability. Fix the poll.

You shouldn't under any circumstances drive high, but I'd much rather have someone drive high than drunk.

lol im in the ucsb area, and was on a jury recently where someone was pulled over for smoking while driving..... they were convicted. so the jury, the law, and the jail cell seemed to think it was the same. good luck!

But by the syntax you only equate that driving high is only the same as driving drunk because its wrong! It mentions nothing of ability!!

haha. I have confidence that he won't get cought by the police. Heh, cause if we weren't good at staying out of trouble we would have been in jail a long time ago :D:beer:

I find it funny cause one of his roomates was convicted about a year ago. Just laughing that you brought it up. Maybe you served his case :Q

god dammit, fix the poll. it asks the opposite question of the topic title and is misleading.

Slightly.

It's much worse to drive with a sleep debt, having taken Tylenol PM or even have a bad cold and groggy.

It's wrong to drive while impaired, period, because you put others at risk.

It's really stupid to drive high. and it's even stupider of you to think that he can only hurt himself while driving alone

While I understand it's morally wrong to drive high, I've done so more times then I can count and enjoy it, sometimes purposefully getting high to drive around on one lane/light traffic roads while listening to music. Though none of you will believe me, it doesn't seem to effect my driving skills and reaction times, and because I'm out there just to drive around with no specific destination I can concentrate on the road easier in many cases, when I'm uptight and cranky I tend to speed and try to beat lights more, never when I'm high though.

A person who is tired is much more dangerous than a person who is high. Although the combination of the two is really bad, IMO.

I suppose you are referencing "Personally, if he wasn't around anyone else, and could only hurt himself," yes?

I didn't make that as clear as I should have. Imagine if there was noone in his car, and no one else on the road. Think of it as a private drive, or something. His car is the only one on the road and there are no pedestrians. Thats the reference frame I was trying to establish.

How could he hurt someone else if he were in such a situtation?

Yes... thus my point.
I thought it assumed that the above factors combined would potentiate each other.

I drive blazed all the time.

Never been in an accident, clean driving record. I drive 1000 miles a week.

He's not driving in Antartica..

And besides you said..

when he gets stuck in traffic he can blaze. It's about a 6 hour drive.

Traffic of what, ducks?

Yeah well... I didn't see that at first. :p

I think there's different levels of high. Some of them being not road worthy. Most of them not so much.
