Let's say you go to hear someone sing and you think the person did an alright job. The person comes up to you after the concert and asks "so am I a good singer?" Instantly you're placed in a situation where you're basically only able to answer one way without offending the person, yet you may be lying to them in the process.

Another situation. A girl (or guy) walks up who you think is decent looking and asks you if he or she is pretty. Same thing as above.

Yet another. You're in class, someone beside you participates often in class, gets low A's / high B's on his / her tests, and he/she comes up to you and asks if he/she is smart.

While I think anyone who has the nerve to ask such questions has some serious approval issues and very low self-confidence, it happens. And is it wrong to be upset with the person for asking such a question and thereby putting you in that situation?

It's not wrong to be upset in the following situation. The hard part is deciding how to answer the person.
