Is it wrong that I don't want to donate blood or organs?

Why donate blood when they're just going to basically sell it to their patients. I'd rather store my own blood so the hospitals don't charge me the $500 of "services" per quart of blood.

Because $500 is cheap considering the testing and collection fees that are needed to process your crappy blood.

Worst case scenario, I could buy blood from some bum or chinese person for a few $$ per quart

I don't think they really test/process all the blood they collect though.

They don't test the blood that's used for people without insurance (aka minority people's blood).

Chinese blood? Might as well get -

on second thought, I'm Asian, but even that'd be pushing it. ;)

Giving blood helps other people in need. Yes, in this world, we can turn our backs on our fellow men... If all you see is $$ in the laps of the hospitals, then you're missing the point in giving of yourself to save another life. There are costs involved in getting your blood, processing it, storing it etc. Perhaps you should take a walk in an oncology ward of a hospital and look some of those patients in the eye and make your proclimation...

No; I don't either.

But not for the same reasons you do.

You mean they have separate storage tanks/facilities for minorities?

No, I mean that people without insurance get free blood that comes from other people without insurance. Most of those happen to be minorities... and yes they use separate tanks. It wouldn't make sense to mix tested blood with untested blood.

Sell it wholesale to a hospital that's running low on supplies. You can either give it to them or sell it to them... either way they're making huge profits off of it.

Sorry, I'm not about to take a small amount of money in return for losing the great feeling of donating something that can do so much good for others. That wonderful feeling is not for sale.

You can either do what's "right" or what's "profitable" I prefer the latter thank you very much :)

i thought i would never give blood because of my hate of needles. However last year i recieved blood when i had surgery and i realized if nobody gave blood then i would be dead. So in March, 1 year from last major surgery, i plan to give blood for the first time.

You've got to be kidding. Are you really proposing that hospitals are passing around possibly AIDS-infected blood to uninsured patients?!
