Most the western world trying to help the victims in Indonesia. Indonesia is like what, 90% muslim? How come countries like Saudi Arabia, Iran, Syria, Eygpt etc... aren't sending massive aid like the rest of the world? Are they only good at promoting Jihad and telling people to strap bombs to themselves?

You don't know about your history of the world do you?

Those countries have sent their aid. Their GDP is far far less than countries like the U.S or Japan.

The biggest Muslim nation in terms of economy (GDP) is Indonesia and they need help.

Your question has been answered.

$$. Just because the people over there drive Mercedes and Bmws doesn't mean the country is rich. They might have some beautiful cities , but once you go outside the cities you will see the signs of a third world. They have their own problems.

The U.S spends more money on their military than each of those countries makes in a year. That should tell you the power of the U.S compared to the rest of the world.

They have? Haven't heard about them. I was just reading this line from the news

"The American military was mounting its largest operation in southern Asia since the Vietnam War, delivering supplies from the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln stationed off Sumatra and sending Marines and water purifying equipment to Sri Lanka.

Four Indonesian navy frigates loaded with supplies arrived off the coast of Meulaboh, the fishing village that was one of Aceh province's worst-hit spots. About half the town of 40,000 was destroyed. An Associated Press reporter who visited could see fewer than 100 residents searching for food among destroyed homes along the coast. "

Are those countries like the US sending man power also?

Sadly, some of the other countries have criticized the U.S. for not making a bigger contribution. Hopefully, our leaders are making notes of these countries. :Q

Well they don't have a military that is able to send power to that part of the world. Only a select few have the military power to send carriers to those nations to assist. The M.E has sent aid to the region (they've sent money), and it is sufficient with how they live. If you look beyond the M.E you will see almost every country is limited in what they can do.

The countries that generate a lot of money are having a donation war. The ones that live an average lifestyle are limited in how much money they can send.

The U.S = Microsoft
The M.E = AOL (Alone -TW)

Microsoft has billions of dollars to invest, spend. AOL cannot afford to throw away billions of dollars for investment/spending.

Oddly, India, trying to be recognized as a world power, and certainly a regional power, has turned down offers of help, and is actually helping other afflicted countries as well as its own coastal regions that were hit.

How do you know that Saudi Arabia or any of the countries you have listed have not sent aid?

According to reports they are not doing a very good job, they have just began removing the bodies, and reports from the worst hit regions are that the survivors are not getting help.

I remember when Taiwan had an earthquake several years ago, Mexico sent a bunch of rescue workers also. Isn't it ironic that the countries that generates the most terrorist also have a general population that thinks the US and the rest of the western world are anti-muslim? Isn't it ironic that these same countries have the greatest amount of looney toons that their government support who are always advocating for muslims to unite against the US? Where are these countries when one of their fellow Muslims are down?

We might flush 1/2 a billion helping Indonesia alone. We're definitely the most visible country there. Do you think these Indonesians will warm up to the US after this or 2 years from now they're be siding with their Jihad buddies protesting against the US again.

I think this has been well covered by prior posters, but this post does touch on something else that's bothering me - hundreds of thousands dead, many times that wounded and displaced.

Yet just a relative stone's throw away, those jackasses in the middle east are still killing THEMSELVES AND EACH OTHER!

You would think such an event would give a potential suicide bomber pause; I guess if you are that insane, nothing will set you straight.

I nominate this as the most ignorant thread of the day. Note that the nomination is not due to the OP.
