Is it worthwhile?

I'm running an Athlon 64 3200 Newcastle and was considering a 3400 Newcastle chip.
I'm running it on an Asus K8VSE-DX board with a gig of Corsair ram.
I'm planning on going to a 6800 Ultra or x800xt (AGP) from a 9800 Pro.

The question...
Is it worthwhile for me to spend $140 on the chip and sell mine off, or is it a waste of time?
Will it add any noticable performance? Will it factor much into gaming performance? Benches?
I'd like to do it just to have the best chip for that board, but I'd like to have a real reason.

Instead of spending $140, I would sell my current MOBO/CPU, and grab 9393 board and chip... Use some of the $140 if needed.

More than likely to get 2.6ghz + and it will cost less (overall)

Not neccesarily true anymore. A lot of newer venices are struggling to hit 2.5. Still not a bad deal at all but you can't practically guarantee 2.6-2.7 anymore. But yes switching to 939 over the ugprade to a 3400 does make more sense. 🙂

The biggest part of the question is :
Will there be a markable improvement when I change video cards?

I've thought about going to 939 and sli, but after the mocking I took when mentioning sli, I abandoned the idea. 🙂
