Getting a lappy today and was wondering if I should shell out $120 more bucks to go from a Intel® Core? Duo Processor T2400 (1.83GHz/667MHz FSB)
to a
Intel® Core? Duo Processor T2500 (2GHz/667MHz FSB)?

Also, is there that much difference in
1GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 533MHz
vs.
1GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHz?

And lastly-
Would you get a 100 gb 5400 rpm sata hd
or
a 60 gb 7200 rpm sata hd?
I have heard there is not much in the two.

I want to do light/moderate gaming (Doom 3 and such).

Thanks.

Not sure, it's a 10% difference, up to you but it's not going to be the deciding factor for gaming.

No idea on the RAM.

For speed you'll want the 7200 RPM drive, the performance will be much better.

for the hd, how specifically will the performance be enhanced?

Well programs will load faster, as will game levels. Every time you read something from the HD it will go faster.

If you intend to actually use your notebook in a portable fashion, double check the rated battery life on the model you intend to buy. You may want to look into a second battery, possibly an extended life version.

Dual core duo will be better for multitasking, and more future-proof for games. (right now not many games designed to take full advantage of dual core, but soon there will be)

If the price is close, I would rather get 2GB of 533MHZ rather than 1GB of 667. If it has to be 1GB of either though, the 667 will be faster.

60GB 7200RPM = not much storage, loads stuff fast
100GB 5400RPM = lots of storage (for a laptop), load stuff slowly.

my friend just told me that 7200 rpm hd in labtops will heat up really fast. It can even damage your system. If you wanna go on the safe side, go with the 5400 rpm./
