Is it worth upgrading?

I currently have a Geforce 2 Pro on my Athlon 1.3Ghz system.

Would I get a significant performance gain by going to a Geforce 3 or is it worth waiting for a successor?

Why not just wait for the "next" card to come out and grab a GF3 cheaper then? Are you OCing the CPU or the Pro? Free speed there 😉
Got enough RAM? It's cheap now.
Enough HD space?

no point in upgrading. if you have to spend money go for memory, a peripheral or something like that.

Depends, if your heavily into 3dgaming then go for it if not hold off a bit!

What do you score in 3dmark 2001? Just hit 7463 with the new detenator drivers! Return to wolfenstein demo everything maxxed at 1280x1024x32 and its runs sweet(you should see the flamethrower)! Max payne runs awesome also, so does giants.
Basically I like to run in higher resolutions and if I enabled fsaa on my gf2ultra it tanked the framerates not anymore!

I don't think theres much point until a game comes out that actually uses the features of the Geforce3 -- like Doom3 which will be in about a year maybe.

Speed wise, the Geforce 2 PRO is very close to the Geforce3 -- don't let 3dmark scores fool you. The reason the Geforce3 score is so much higher is that it can do all of the tests -- not because its all that much faster

thanks for the response, I already have done the memory which is now 1GB DDR PC2100.

I might see how the ti500 works out and if that doesn't scream I'll wait until the next generation.
