Is it worth upgrading from a Leadtek geforce 2 GTS 64mg to a Geforce 3 Ti200 or Radeon 7800?

I'm in the same boat with you -- trying to decide ...

What kind of CPU do you have ?

And for purely synthetic results, do a 3dmark 2001 test. Then look @ 3d accelerator comparison and it will show you percentage wise what improvements you would get with other vid cards including the g3ti200 and the radeon series.

cheers!

if it's games, fps types -- then I would say definately go for it ...

for office apps not sure its worthwhile ...

I went from a VisionTek GF2 GTS 32 MB to the BB Black Friday Visiontek GF3 Ti200 64MB. BIG difference! I play mostly FPS's and driving games. Q3A is 1600x1200x32, everything cranked up and ~120-150FPS spiking to 250. 4x4 Evo and 1nsane seems smoother but I can ccrank up the eye candy on them also. Just got 4x4 Evo 2 last night which is supposed to take advantage of the GF3 Ti features.

Here's a few reviews I found when looking into the Visiontek GF3 Ti200:

http://www.slcentral.com/reviews/hardware/video/visiontek/xstasy6964/page3.php
http://www.xbitlabs.com/video/visiontek-titanium/

At the very least you get
1. Memory bandwidth improvement, most Ti200's o/c easily to original GF3 speeds 200/460
2. GF3 Ti h/w features: Vertex and Pixel Shaders, 3D textures, shadow buffers. You're ready for the latest games that use these.

That's my GF3 Ti200 point of view....

EDIT: Another review farther down in today's Video threads GF3 Ti Roundup at TomsHardware

I upgraded a Leadtek Geforce 2 Pro to a Gainward Geforce 3 Ti200 and there is quite a difference.

With the GF2 I could only play most games at 1024x768x16, with the GF3 I can play at 1600x1200x32.
