what's the GS3 have that everyone's waiting for? Quad core? That's definitely not needed. 1GB of RAM? We already have that all over the place. So why upgrade?

This is actually part of the problem with hype, it's largely uncontrollable. The iPhone 4 was probably the only product that deserved more hype than it got, and that's largely because the phone and most of its features were leaked two months prior.

As for "groundbreaking", hopefully we'll see a non-PenTile Super AMOLED+ HD display. Everything else is pretty much a lock: Exynos 4412, 1GB RAM, integrated LTE, 8MP camera.

If anything, what separated Samsung from true Apple-cult status was the rather cheap feeling of the Galaxy S II and Galaxy Nexus. When you compare those phones with the iPhone 4/4S, HTC One X, and Nokia Lumia 800/900, you have to wonder how Samsung so horribly screws up in the design department.

Update to an old thread...I went with a Nexus from Google on Straight Talk's T-Mobile network. I'm very happy. :D
