I have a 9600 Pro, BUT WITH SLOW MEMORIES (400/400) instead of 400/500 or 400/600.
I live in Argentina and the prices are very diffferent. Keep That in mind. I can sell my card at 130 dollars, and I can buy a RX9800PRO-TD128 (MSI Radeon 9800 Pro) at $240 dollars (best price here for a 9800 Pro)
Is it worth the upgrade?

I dunno. Maybe if you don't plan on going for a 6800 or x800 in the next year or so. The $110 extra for tha 9800 is kind of a lot, I think.

you won't see much of a difference, just wait until the new gen cards come down in price...my 6800 non gt and x700 pro kill my old 9800...

Id say that it all depedns on what you are gona run NOW with the card,
If you plan to play HL2 then you might as well get it now since you will see a big difference, ( also the MSI 9800 Pro that you say its easily o/ced to 9800XT speeds ), if you do not require the extra speed ( i.e not playing all the latest extremely heavy games ) then id say wait cause it wont make a huge difference.

In D3, HL2, etc big gains, in olders games, not so big of a gain, especially if you play them at relatively low resolutions ( 800, and 1024 ).

Above these resolutions tho even the 9800Pro will kneel.

Want to see a huge difference? Get a 6600GT AGP card for the cost of that MSI 9800 Pro.

I have a 9800 Pro and plan on upgrading to this.

Cheers,

Trey

I'll only be upgrading to that 6600GT if it's substantially cooler (less hot) than my 9800 Pro. Seriously, it's not much of an upgrade.

I myself *think* that a 6600GT will run cooler, after all the 6600 GPU (lets ignore clockspeeds, I don't think that is going to make a big difference) is 0.11 micron compared to 0.15 micron GPU of the 9800 Pro, and also the fact that the 6600GT has the better HSF.

I would never, ever, keep the stock heatsink on a non-passive card. Running a VGA Silencer on my 9800 Pro, but if the 6600GT can handle something like that passive Zalman GPU heatsink, then the 6600GT will be a natural upgrade for me.

The problem is that the next generation cards, here in Argentina, are too expensive. And a price drop for these new generation cards is expected for more than a year(or more).
And im gonna play Half Life 2, and if its possibel in 1600x1200, so i think i`ll do the upgrade.
Thanks
