HI,
I heard that intel is going to come out with new celeron2 with 100 FSB. Is it worth to wait on it since the price of celeron right now is still affortable ?

Just buy a 533A or 566 Celeron II and run them at 100Mhz FSB :) Presto, 800 or 850 with a 100Mhz FSB for the price of a 533/566 with 66Mhz FSB hehe :)

Edit:
that's assuming you have a motherboard now that will take a Celeron, if you need a new motherboard definately get a Duron...P3 vs Athlon is close, the Duron mauls the Celeron...of course if you don't need a new motherboard for a celeron then it's a much better deal.

Forget the Celeron alltogether. Even overclocked it has trouble competeing with a P3 clocked much less than it. Just spend a few extra dollars and grab a P3 600E or so and it'll outperform an overclocked celery @ 800 or 850MHz in most apps.

I would suggest grabbing a Celeron 600 or 633 right now and running it at 100 MHZ. My 600 @ 900 is rock stable with the MSI-6309 and globalwin FHP 308. And it runs 15% faster than my PIII 600 @ 744 on the same motherboard on Wintune benchmarks. Maybe wintune isn't the best benchmark in the world, but I was expecting the Celeron to be close to the PIII 600 FC-PGA, but to actually outperform it was a surprise. My best guess is the new Celerons with the 100 MHz fsb will be lousy overclockers, start at 800 MHz, and cost twice as much as the current chips. Also, the current Celerons are available now!

I don't think Intel is stupid (let's put aside the topic of Pentium 4's for now ;))... if 66fsb celerons can o/c to 100fsb easily than I believe the 100fsb celerons will be able to o/c to 133fsb with a similar success rate... but of course that's just IMO

hi,
Thanks for the advice from you guys.:p Recently i got an offer of celeron2 533 which can overclock to 900 and above with 1.75 voltage. Is it a good deal and good upgrade option?

I would be a little surprised if a Celeron 533 would make it to 900. That would require a fsb of 112, which may also require good PC-133 ram. Unless that 533 is a bargain (and make sure it is an FC-PGA chip) I think I would suggest getting a Celeron 600. Multiwave has the retail boxed version of the 600 for $87 plus shipping. That is where I got mine and it hits 900 easily. I haven't tried to push it any farther, yet... You also might want to consider a better heatsink and fan combo than the factory version. Check Anand's slot A heatsink review. The factory intel version was not impressive.

Well I'm an AMD guy.

I bought a Duron 600 for $49 and got it to POST at 1133Mhz. Its stable at 1090MHz with just an average heatsink.

But if you have a good motherboard, get that chip as long as its less than $90 or so.
