Is it worth the money to go XP Pro?

ATOT seems to be the only place with any life, so here's my REPOST from ATOS.

XP Home Edition can be had ~$100 or so. But the extra $$$ for Pro is stopping me from going that route.
I know XP Pro uses NTFS and Home Ed doesn't, but is Pro really that much better?

home edition uses NTFS just fine. I converted my moms laptop to ntfs which runs XP home edition.

C'mon boys and girls. I know W2K uses NTFS.
I'am using W2K Pro now but not NTFS.

Is there anything else that is much better with XP Pro, apart from 'Yeah I like it much better'.

I too use Windows2000 NTFS and am debating about a switch to XP Pro... if anything it will be at the end of the summer when I upgrade to an nForce/Athlon XP 2100+ at the same time.

xp home uses ntfs.

the difference between xp home and pro

home doesnt have... secure file system, dual CPU support, remote desktop, and some of the default settings are different. thats about it.

if you really want xp pro cheap

go to fs/ft

someone will sell you the not for sale NFR version xp pro they got from the MS vs.net event for like $50, if you just go

wtb xp pro nfr

as your title

My first day upgrading from win98 to win2k was great too. I couldn't believe how quick/responsive and stable it was. From then on I only installed 2k on new systems and have been using it on all of my systems ever since. :)
