i am going to be building a new system in a few days, with a: Duron 700, MSI K7T Pro2A, Samsung 900NF, 128mb PC-133 etc.

origionally i was going to take the voodoo3 2000PCI out of this machine(it's a dell with onboard video) and put it in my new one. i love the 2d of this card, and 3d performance isn't bad, except if i put it in the new box it'll have to run on a 19" screen instead of a 17", and the 900NF is much better quality than this dell screen ;) i play mostly UT and Deus Ex, frame rates aren't as important to me as the quality of the picture. i found an Asus V7100 Pure for $192cnd(sorry, not sure how much that is in USD :() or i could get a Voodoo5 5500 for $294. i know the voodoo is much more expensive, but if it's going to give me what i want i may just have to wait a little longer to upgrade my voodoo3. i would look at a voodoo4, but it doesn't seem worth the money as the performance doesn't appear to be that much better than my good ol voodoo3 ;) so nowi have to make a decision, the GF2MX, or the voodoo5. any input is appreciated :) (also, is the $192cnd for the Asus a good price? it's been a looong time since i went shopping for a video card as you can see :p)

Since 2d and image quality are important, go with the V5 5500. The GF2MX's 2d isn't really too great at higher resolutions. The V5 however offers great 2d and solid 3D, that isn't the best performer out there but offers great FSAA support for image quality.
