This current semester I signed up for an "Honors Seminar" which is essentially a 1 S.H. class that usually involves a trip of some sort followed by some online tests and quizzes. I ended up adding the class late and missed the first assignment, went on the trip (whitewater rafting) and then I got behind. My brother suggested just withdrawing from the class before November 1st and get a W (withdrawing after that date results in an F).
Anyways I just got an email from the prof. asking about the paper that was due recently. I told him I withdrew from the class, and to that he replyed that that was a bad idea as it will result in an F. I emailed back that I withdrew before the date, but he says that Honors Seminars don't apply to that and that I will get an F for the class. He suggests that I should try re-adding and turning all the assignments in late.
So I've been thinking the effects of a 1 S.H. F on my GPA. I really think it's a negligable thing and I'm better off concentrating my efforts on my other classes, like Circuits, Statics, Physics, and Diff Eq.
It works out that it will lower my GPA this semister .25 pts on a 4pt scale, and around .08pts on my cumulative GPA (3.79 currently).
