Is it worth selling my WoW account?

I haven't played the game in over two years and I have zero interest in going back to it. But as the two main characters I have were 80 at the time I stopped I know that some work would have to go into whoever purchased the account. At the time my 80 Druid was Resto and my other character was a Death Knight. I forgot what spec my DK was, but he was the DPS spec of the 'day' back then. My resto was main healing Naxx heroics at the time I left. So is it worth it to sell my WoW account?

You won't get hardly anything for it now unless you have an absolutely obscene amount of gold.

Though my friend with some really rare mounts, like half a million gold and shadowmourne recently got $850 for his account. Which was subsequently temp banned almost immediately for spamming and then permabanned for goldselling lol, he's thinking of trying to coax blizzard into giving it back to him now :D

If there's Collector's Edition stuff on the account, then it's worth something.

It's worth more if it's not B.Net merged, too.

I've been trying to rid myself of an account I purchased off someone I once considered a friend.
Original WOW Collector's Edition. I hadn't touched the account since some time after purchased & last checked before B.Net became mandatory.

I was offered $1500 for the account, when I was only asking $200.
Due to such high-profile exchange, we negotiated agreement & conducted the process over the phone. Person sent me half the money. I provided him with login details. Attempts at merging account resulted in error. Looked up character that was on the account, to find the fuckshit that sold me the account stole it back.

I still need to call Blizz & see what can be done, last step, I'll see what I can do about getting his account banned for attempting to sell against TOS.

Went into long string of bad luck & debt these past few months. That $1500 would have helped me out - a lot.
Dude who sold it to me back then not only screwed me back then, but did it again now later on down the road.
Knew him for 4-5 years before that happened, considered him a friend, until then. Found out after the fact, that he's pulled similarly shady shit on other people too. One of our mutual friend's isn't too fond of him after that & is looking for an opportunity to get back at him for all shit he's pulled on others.

Anyway..
Without an account. The CE swag is still worth about $150 - $200.
But still. My investment of $100 then getting 15x that back today would have made that a great return investment.
Shitty.

Not worth anything especially since the second character is a DK. Just to put this in perspective I could pay ~$15 right now to buy the battlechest and WotLK with the free month and level a Druid and DK to 80 within the month if I wanted too. If it had a lot of raiding and heroic mode achievements or some rarer stuff like a legendary then maybe it would be worth $40. Also there is no Naxx Heroic versions.

I wish i could sell my 7 accounts. I got them all upgraded to WOLK then decided I did not want to invest the time in multiboxing so gave it up after a month. Got them all to level 70 to. lol

While a little off topic, I was under the impression it was against the TOS to sell accounts. Is that not correct? Doesn't Blizzard kill the account if it is brought to their attention? Just curious.

It is indeed against the ToS and Blizzard can ban the account if they want.

You will be lucky to get $2 for it. My old toon has the Bear mount from ZA and at most my character was worth $7. Not worth it for the hassle at all.
