Is it worth replacing two Radeon 4850 video cards right now?

My roommate wants to upgrade but I've told him there really isn't a compelling reason right now unless he wants DX11. He drives three monitors, one at 1920x1080 and two at 1680x1050. Currently he has a Core 2 Quad at 3.0 GHz at 8GB of RAM so those really don't need help. I told him if he isn't happy with a game's performance, run the cards in Crossfire like he is supposed to but I don't know if he is for sure. I looked at the performance charts and I don't think he wants to spend $500 on a card either. He plays pretty much everything too. Any comments and suggestions are welcome.

Lol...
I know I need to replace my 8800 GTS, I'll tape the 8800 to his case and tell him it'll make it faster.

Not yet, wait for Crysis engine 3 or BlackOps engine,,, then you can get yourself a 5870 or be rich and bring home a 5970 ... UT3 engine gears ,, all those your cards now are fine.. Its this new games just wait it out and do it when a game you get is not doing well and you really like the game then get a new VC.. good luck,,

Using Tweak's boy ASM to C++ converter compiler version 0.01B, I was able to convert Tweakboys API to english using ATi's Stream and nVidia's CUDA API, this is what he meant.

"Not yet, wait for the CryEngine 3 or Blackops engine, then you can get an HD 5870 or believe that you are wealthy and get an HD 5970. While the UT3 engine gears on, all the current cards will do fine. Just wait until new games comes and then if they can't run well on your videocard, then get an upgrade, good luck!!!."

Tweaks writing often reminds me of someone having a seizure and shitting themselves at the same time ... he'll lay out a general idea then just flip into seizure mode by adding thoughts in as he's thinking them with absolutely no regard for turning those thoughts into comprehensible writing. In the end you've got this big pile of sh*t in front of you with a vague idea why it's there.

He said this ~> " Just wait for new engines to come out that actually need faster hardware ". I agree with that though as current cards are overpriced.
