Is it worth paying another $170 for a Geforce 3 over a Geforce 2Pro 64 meg ?

Hi
I am about to upgrade from my voodoo 5500 and read some great reviews on the MSI Geforce 2 Pro 64 megs. Newegg has it for $123.00
The Geforce 3 is about $290.00 Is it worth the extra money. My main games right now is UT and Max Payne.
Thanks

u mean u're downgrading from yoru voodoo 5?

if u want max payne in full-fledge hardcore 32-bit full details, etc. at a good resolution and perfectly smooth, go GF3, otherwise, don't upgrade at all...

gf2 pro is poop.

You might want to wait a little while before you purchase any video card. The scuttlebus is that the new Titanium Gforce 3's are imminent. This should drive the prices down on all older models. I think there is also a Gforce 3 MX card coming out that will be based not on the current Gforce 3, but on the new core. A core that has more advanced shadow buffers and new textures for volumetric effects (polygon fill)?

[EDIT]

Oh yeah, here's the link to the release information.

I agree with other ppl. either upgrade to GF3 or not at all. And yes, wait for the next batch of geforce3 family cards to come out first, if you decide to get a GF3.

How come we're not hearing any big details about the new cards? Most of the time there's a release we are snowed under with details and specs and previews! What gives? Is this not really a big deal just a minor upgrade?
